Local Stranger was founded by Niks in 2020, beginning in Niks's living room—a space for self-taught experimental making, design, and creating products no one asked for.

The name "Local Stranger" reflects the dualities Niks has experienced while moving across the globe, embodying the ethos of being the odd one out—observing from the outside while exploring within.

In 2022, Niks was accidentally discovered by Nike through a bootleg of a Nike House of Innovation shopping bag repurposed into a pouch. This sparked an ongoing partnership involving workshops and handmade product design.

At its core, Local Stranger values the art of handmade, the diversity of skillsets, and an open-source creative process that bridges the gap between extreme opposites. Adaptability isn’t a compromise—it’s an edge.
